“ "We stayed at The Kite Nest for more than a week during the New Year 2009-2010. Katie and Brad have been the best guests ever! We really felt like home, in this perfectly located house in Sunset beach in Blaauberg. If I was to choose 3 key reasons to come back here, I would mention: hospitality, located near the beach, competitive price compared to similar locations in the area. Katie and Brad, we will be back! ” - Emilian (France) and Victoria "(Russia) - Guest

“ On the subject of Perfect Holidays: I returned from 8 days in Cape Town yesterday. I've been to a few places to kite (Tarifa, Lake Garda, Thailand, Mui Ne - Vietnam, Egypt (Safaga and El Gouna), South Coast UK and some lakes in Germany) and this was BY FAR the best (and I was not alone with this opinion). I planned the trip spontaneously after noticing that the flights were cheap at around 400Euro return. After checking options for accommodation, I settled on a place called The Kites Nest, which is a B&B located on Sunset Beach in Milnerton, Cape Town. It was only after I arrived that I found out that Brad Symington, who together with his wife Katie runs The Kites Nest, is a local kitesurfing legend, aka 'The Caveman' (maybe for his Neanderthal attitude to riding in ridiculous conditions; the only time I was able to see him riding was when the wind touched 40+ knots.) Brad runs the kitesurfing and SUP School the setup there is optimal on so many levels. On 2 of the 3 low/no-wind days (November is only the start of the season) I started learning SUP. I took a wave-riding/jumping lesson with Brad who has a fantastic system teaching via a radio helmet speaker setup. I've always been a bit sceptical of this as it seemed a gimmick, but after this one I can't see myself paying for anything else! I managed to get my first kite loop - it was a matter of riding and just following the instructions: I can honestly say that I haven't progressed this much since first learning 2 1/2 years ago. I was able to do a nice downwind ride from The Kites Nest to Big Bay with 2 other guys I had met. There was some really nice swell and good waves to practise riding on and jumping off. Once a week Brad and Katie organise a South African barbeque (called Braai) where guests, local riders, kitesurf nuts turn up with meat to meet. There were two photographers who had just returned from filming/taking photos for a speed event in Namibia. I would suppose that during the mid season you would meet some of Brad's pro-rider mates as well - but those are just the random positive surprises to top things off. Anyway, I could go on and on here but I guess I should keep some of the tips to myself. If you are interested to find out more you should contact Brad. ” - Martin (London, UK) - Guest, Student
